A Jersey Shore dining staple is preparing to close its doors after nearly three decades.
Salt Creek Grille in Rumson announced it will close on Dec. 31, marking the end of its 27-year run on the Navesink River.
The restaurant’s team shared the news in a heartfelt message to guests, citing the end of its lease as the reason for the closure.
“After 27 incredible years, Salt Creek Grille Rumson will close its doors on December 31, 2025,” the post read. “We have come to the end of our lease, and while this chapter is coming to an end, the memories we've created together will last a lifetime.”
Opened in July 1996 by founders Tim McCune and Pete Truxaw, Salt Creek Grille was designed as a neighborhood restaurant offering mesquite-grilled American fare in an upscale but relaxed setting, its website says.
For nearly three decades, it became a go-to spot for birthdays, anniversaries, and first dates, known for its wood-fired steaks, seafood dishes, and waterfront views.
“To our loyal patrons who’ve celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, first dates, and quiet Tuesday nights with us — thank you,” the team wrote. “Your laughter, stories, and support have filled this space with warmth and heart.”
The restaurant invited guests to return over the next eight weeks to “fill these walls with joy, clinking glasses, and one last round of your favorite dishes.”
Salt Creek Grille remains open daily through New Year’s Eve.
