LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- Supreme Court Justice Kentaji Brown Jackson temporarily stopped an order that would require the Trump administration to make full Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) November payments this week.
Jackson's ruling paused some of the payments until the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit can decide the administration's motion to block the order pending its appeal.
“Given the First Circuit’s representations, an administrative stay is required to facilitate the First Circuit’s expeditious resolution of the pending stay motion,” Jackson wrote.
For nearly 85% of Michigan's 1.4 million SNAP recipients, it means they may not receive full benefits for an unknown amount of time, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said in a statement Friday.
