PLACER COUNTY, Calif. (KOLO) - Three undocumented immigrants from South America were arrested in North Auburn recently in connection with a highly organized criminal network often referred to as Transnational Theft Group or South American Theft Group, according to a Friday, Nov. 7, law enforcement Facebook post.
Placer County Sheriff’s Office took 37-year-old Carlos Mario Corredor-Lamprea, 29-year-old Jose Boade-Payares, and 29-year-old Ivon Vergararincon into custody in connection with targeting customers at a Safeway in a wealthy area, an agency post said.
They distracted their victims, then stole their wallets and phones from their carts, the post said.
Immediately afterward, the credit and debit cards were used.
