Sequoyah had a different look coming into 2025.

Coach John Edwards had some work to do after the Chiefs lost six seniors from a 2024 team that went to the Class AAAAA semifinals. With a blend of talented returners and promising newcomers, it all came together, resulting in a 23-6 record and second straight state semifinal appearance, as well as the 2025 Cherokee County Volleyball Coach of the Year award for Edwards.

“The girls were just accepting of what we needed to do and what would be important this year,” Edwards said. “Even if you have a lot of people come back, it’s going to be different as far as responsibly what we need to work on. They were really receptive, and it showed.”
