HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - It’s not a new cancer, but it’s rare.
Hattiesburg Clinic Hematologist, Oncologist and Oncology Clinical Trial Director for Forrest General Hospital, Dr. Bo Hrom, said Lobular Breast Cancer is a type of cancer that can be harder to find because of where and how it forms.
Hrom explained that Lobular Breast Cancer forms in the lobes of the breast.
“There are about 15 to 20 [lobes] in each human breast,” Hrom said.
Hrom said 90 percent of breast cancer actually comes from the duct.
“10 to 15 percent [of breast cancer] comes from the lobule, so lobular breast cancer is much rarer,” Hrom said
