But Alonso's deal included an opt-out for after the first year, and the slugger used it to head back into free agency this winter. Jim Bowden of The Athletic recently projected Alonso would sign a $182 million deal this offseason.

FanSided's Zachary Rotman recently predicted the Mets would land Alonso in free agency this season, though Rotman didn't specify the value of a potential deal.
