It was a family affair on Saturday for Banks.
While they didn’t come out on top individually, podium finishes for Sophie and Molly Schoolmeester helped lead Banks to uncharted territory as they came out with the school’s first cross country state championship at Lane Community College.
Senior Sophie Schoolmeester finished third in 18 minutes, 51.59 seconds and freshman Molly Schoolmeester was fourth in a personal best of 18:54.39, leading Banks to a team score of 56 points and the Class 3A/2A/1A team title.
Rounding out Banks’ top scorers was Lydia Shellman, who was seventh in 18:59.02.
