Cold rain moves in this afternoon

Change over to a wintry mix as temperatures drop

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - As we head into Saturday evening, we’re experiencing our first real taste of winter weather with a mix of rain and snow moving through the area. If you’re heading out this afternoon or evening, you’ll want to grab that jacket and maybe keep an umbrella handy.

The mixed precipitation moving in will gradually transition to mainly snow as we move through the evening hours. Areas in southeastern Wisconsin will hold onto the rain a bit longer due to slightly warmer conditions, but even those areas will eventually see the changeover to snow before the system moves out.
