LE MARS, Iowa (KTIV) - A local cyclist group is looking to help those affected by the government shutdown with what they’re calling a food drive on two wheels.
The Plymouth County Cyclists braved the snowy weather for their annual Cranksgiving food drive on Saturday, Nov. 8.
Cyclists went around the area, some on bikes, and collected food to donate to local food banks.
“It’s a way for cyclists here in this area to go ahead and come together, get some exercise, some fresh air, fellowship, and then give back to community,” said Kati Bak, a Plymouth County Cyclists member, and organizer of the event. “This year, there are a lot of people that are hurting because of the government shutdown. We want to make sure that the food bank is properly ready to help people in need this holiday season.
