SPRINGFIELD — The Carterville Lions did not play their cleanest game Saturday, fumbling the football three times in the first half, but the Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones had far too much firepower for the Lions to match, resulting in a 45-15 victory in the second round of the Class 4A football playoffs.
With the victory, SHG improves to 8-3 and will play at Rochester next weekend in the quarterfinal round. Carterville's season ends at 10-1.
