SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - The Sparks City Attorney’s Office expressed profound sadness by the loss of Michael Hess who was viciously attacked as he was tending to the Sparks Veteran’s Memorial recently.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Hess’s family and friends as they process this senseless act of violence,” the Facebook post said. “We are grateful to the bystander whose swift and courageous actions assisted law enforcement to quickly detain the defendant.”
