ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
With food insecurity heightened for many because of the government shutdown, the Albuquerque Police Department's "Fill a Bag" Thanksgiving food drive couldn't be happening at a better time.
"We do this for our Foothills area command families," said APD crime specialist Samantha Martinez. "That way, we can build connections with the police department and our elementary school students. Sometimes things go on in families that are unexpected. And we want to build the community to trust us and appreciate our officers as much as possible."
Donating a full bag of Thanksgiving fixin's is great, but donating less, or even making a cash donation, is equally welcome. Cash donations over $20 need to fill out a donation form, and checks should be made out to the APD Chaplains Un
