TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, N.M. —

In Truth or Consequences, a celebration was held Saturday morning to honor veterans and their families, highlighting the courage and dedication of those who served.

"To the veterans, thank you for your leadership, your courage and willingness to answer the call when your nation needed you the most," a speaker said during the event.

Jake Wright shared his experiences from 22 years in the Army, having served in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. "The war is never over inside of you, it's always in your head," Wright said. "There are little triggers that bring it back more, and there's things that are around us that take it away. I try to lean towards the takeaway."

He currently lives at the New Mexico Veterans Home in Truth or Consequences.
