CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Three Democratic candidates for Iowa’s U.S. Senate seat met with voters Saturday in Cedar Rapids, emphasizing common ground on key issues despite running against each other in the primary.
Dozens of people gathered to hear from Zach Wahls, Josh Turek and Nathan Sage at the joint forum.
“That’s the thing they’re not fighting against each other or pending against one another,” said Christina Ross.
Ross said she came to the event without knowing much about any of the candidates in particular. All three spoke about the higher cost of living and healthcare reform, issues that resonated personally with her.
“As a cancer survivor, knowing how hard it is with the medical and the injustice with medical treatment and healthcare, that hits home for me,” Ross said.
