EAST LANSING, MI –– Michigan State freshman forward Cam Ward was all buckets at the Breslin on Saturday, Nov. 8.
With many eyes on Arkansas freshman and Detroit native Darius Acuff Jr., it was Ward who stole the show, dropping 18 points and 10 rebounds off the bench to help lead the Spartans to a narrow victory.
The Spartans defeated the Razorbacks, 69-66.
“He is here because he wants to win,” Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo said of the true freshman.
Michigan State junior forward Coen Carr added 15 points and hauled in seven rebounds.
The battle of Top-25 teams was also a battle of longtime friends in both Arkansas head coach John Calipari and Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo.
Following the game, Izzo said that fans deserve quality games like this at the Breslin Center.
