HARPER WOODS, MI — Police are investigating after a 17-year-old Warren resident was shot Friday night outside of a football game at Harper Woods High School.
The shooting occurred at about 9:30 p.m. as a playoff game against Chandler Park Academy was finishing up, police officials said.
A large fight had taken place in the parking lot minutes before the game ended despite a heavy law enforcement presence, including Harper Woods Police, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and Michigan State Police.
The teen sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower torso, according to police. He was transported to the hospital after being treated at the scene.
Police did not immediately release information on a suspect. The shooting remains under investigation.
