EUGENE, Ore-- The cross country season has officially come to a close in Oregon, at least at the high school level. With the OSAA State Championship meet officially wrapped up several local athletes shined on the course of Lane Community College.
In the 3A/2A/1A girls bracket Coquille sophomore Ella Henthorn would take first place and her first state title in the more than three mile race. A season ago, Henthorn finished in fourth place with a time of 18:42.6, but just a year later the developing star would finish the same race nearly 30 seconds faster with a final time of 18:42.62
"It means a lot to me," Henthorn said after the race. "This has been my goal all season and this is what I had been working towards and maybe now I can look towards nationals."
