Wisconsin upsets No. 23 Washington for Luke Fickell's first ranked win
Wisconsin snapped a six-game losing streak by upsetting No. 23 Washington 13-10 on Saturday.
The Badgers (3-6, 1-5 Big Ten) ended an 11-game skid against Power Four opponents and also earned their first victory over a ranked team since 2021. The win came two days after athletic director Chris McIntosh announced that coach Luke Fickell would return for the 2026 season and beyond.
Freshman quarterback Carter Smith replaced injured starter Danny O’Neil in the first quarter and managed just 8 passing yards but rushed for 47 yards and a 2-yard touchdown that tied the game midway through the third.
Smith’s scoring drive came moments after the defense stripped and recovered a fumble by Huskies quart
