TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — LSU didn't roll into this week with the same offense that struggled through the first two-thirds of the season.
The Tigers fired coach Brian Kelly and offensive coordinator Joe Sloan. They promoted tight ends coach Alex Atkins to play-caller, and running backs coach Frank Wilson became the interim coach. Wilson then spent two weeks touting how the run game would be a larger part of the offense and that backup sophomore quarterback Michael Van Buren might be used in certain red-zone situations.
The changes, at least in theory, were major, but the results on Saturday weren't any different in LSU's 20-9 loss to Alabama in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
