GURGAON: A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot by a classmate with a licensed pistol in Sector 48 late on Friday night. The incident occurred when the victim was invited to dinner by the accused, who had been holding a grudge since a previous argument two months ago.
Police received a call around midnight reporting the shooting. By the time officers arrived, the victim had already been taken to Medanta Hospital by his family. Investigators found a pistol, a magazine, five live cartridges, and an empty shell at the scene. Additional ammunition, including another magazine and 65 live cartridges, was discovered in the accused's rented accommodation.
According to the victim's mother, her son initially hesitated to meet his friend but eventually agreed after persistent requests. The accused met the victim at Kherki Daula toll plaza and took him to his flat, where the shooting occurred.
The police confirmed that both the accused and the victim are classmates in Class 11. The weapon used in the shooting belonged to the father of one of the accused, who is a property dealer. The minors were arrested shortly after the incident and are facing charges under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have urged licensed firearm owners to secure their weapons away from children.
