The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released safety Sebastian Castro from their active roster. After he does clear waivers, they hope to sign him back to the practice squad. The former Pittsburgh Steelers safety was signed off their practice squad earlier this season.
A pure nickel cornerback in college at Iowa, the Steelers moved Castro to safety full time due to concerns with his speed, but he took to it well.
Castro, 24, slotted into the safety competition but was never able to make a roster push after Chuck Clark was signed. Along with his work at safety, he became a proficient special teamer to make the team. He joined Logan Lee, Yahya Black, and Kaleb Johnson as Iowa Hawkeyes on the team, and the Steelers have drafted two Hawkeyes this year.
He ran a 4.59 40-yard dash at the NFL
