ANN ARBOR, MI — Gordon Van Putten reassures patrons that his 30-year-old restaurant in downtown Ann Arbor will reopen very soon after a quick remodel.

Van Putten, 43, co-owner and the general manager of The West End Grill, 120 W. Liberty St., said the restaurant will resume operations Jan. 16 after a three-week closure, beginning Dec. 25.

“We decided that (it) needs a little upgrade every once in a while,” Van Putten, of Livonia, said. “It’s been an Ann Arbor-style country club for so many people...and we wanted to make sure that stayed with the restaurant.”

The West End Grill previously announced Nov. 2 on Facebook it will pause operations temporarily at the end of this year for a “remodel.”
