Weather enthusiasts might get a little extra treat as this lake-effect snow storm ramps up across parts of Michigan Sunday and into Monday.

Thundersnow is in the forecast for some areas - and it’s a rarity for winter weather as we only see it a few times each season. So kicking off our first significant lake-effect snowfall of the year with thundersnow feels a little special.

Thundersnow conditions happen when we see lightning and hear thunder embedded into a lake-effect storm system over the Great Lakes. But instead of it happening when it’s raining - it happens when it’s snowing.
