Underclassmen are the next wave of powerful cross country runners in Northern Nevada as Galena sophomore Gioia Coudriet won the girls state cross cross country race on Saturday in 17 minutes, 54 seconds.
All three state winners in the three classes also won the North Regional races on Oct. 31.
Somerset Academy junior Aislin McMahon was second in the 5A race in 19:00.
Galena freshman Emma Reame was fourth in 19:14 and Carson freshman Samantha Ingram was sixth in 19:17 in the 5-kilomter race on Saturday at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno.
Reno High junior Avery Johnson was 11th in 19:51.
Faith Lutheran won the 5A girls team with title with 82 points and Carson took second with 91.
Class 3A State
Truckee freshman Autumn Burks won the 3A race in 19: 18.
