Wake Forest opened its home slate with a strong performance, defeating Hampton 77–48 on Sunday afternoon at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Raven Preston led the Demon Deacons with 13 points, while Grace Oliver and Mary Carter added 12 and 10, respectively, as three players scored in double figures.
Hampton started the game with energy on defense, forcing three turnovers in Wake Forest’s first four possessions. The Pirates held an early 4–2 lead following jumpers from Kiya Dorroh and Taylor Gibson, but Wake Forest closed the first quarter on a 13–2 run to take control. A late putback from Le’Asia Foreman trimmed the deficit to 15–6 after one.
The Demon Deacons extended their advantage to 33–17 late in the second quarter before Hampton’s Olivia Smith connected on a three-pointer
