Québec solidaire co-spokesperson Ruba Ghazal will be the party’s candidate for premier in the 2026 general election and will participate in the leaders’ debates during the campaign.
QS members confirmed Ghazal’s selection at a convention in Quebec City on Sunday. New co-spokesperson Sol Zanetti said on Saturday that he wouldn’t put himself forward as a possible candidate for premier for the party.
“In Quebec, we have the right to demand that the country we are building be feminist, inclusive and supported by a green economy,” Ghazal said in her speech.
She and Zanetti made sovereignty the central theme of their convention speeches on the weekend.
