FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Day 40 of the government shutdown has arrived, and federal workers in the valley are feeling the pinch without multiple paychecks. Now, one neighborhood in West Fresno rallied behind a man who says it’s been a tough time for him and his coworkers.
33-year-old Albert Alltamirano has been going to work every week despite not getting paid. He told his mom about his struggles with grocery shopping, and his mom decided to get help from her community.
"It's just been a struggle, not just for myself, but a lot of my fellow coworkers,” Plumber for the Federal Government, Albert Altamirano said. "This is going to be our third paycheck now. Just last Friday that we didn't receive."
The government shutdown is making life difficult for Albert.
