Trailing by three with two minutes to play, Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback Fernando Mendoza led his No. 2 Indiana Hoosiers on a game-winning drive to quiet Penn State’s upset bid.

Interim coach Terry Smith and his players are simply searching for answers as a disappointing and difficult season continues to take sharp turns .

Of course, the 27-24 loss was likely the Nittany Lions’ best effort of the season, especially with the context of how talented Indiana is.
