SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV)-- Syracuse is bracing for its first lake effect snow event of the season Monday and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo and Binghamton have issues Winter Weather Advisories for most of Central New York Monday into Tuesday.

The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Oswego, Northern Cayuga, Wayne, and Monroe counties from 1pm Monday until 1pm Tuesday.

The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Onondaga, Madison, and Oneida counties from 6pm Monday until 6pm Tuesday.

What can we expect?

The lake effect snow gradually picks up closer to the Lake Ontario shoreline Monday afternoon. After sunset the band is expected to strengthen and impact areas farther inland from Fulton, Phoenix, Baldwinsville, Clay, Brewerton, etc. for the overnight hours.
