A 64-year-old Plainfield man is paralyzed from the neck down following a crash in Summit on Tuesday, Oct. 28, according to a fundraiser set up to support his family.
At 10:36 a.m., Summit police responded to Glenside Avenue and West R Tracy Drive for a two-car crash, city officials said. Brian Price, a well-known author and photographer, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated, being transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Price remains paralyzed from the neck down with limited movement in his arms and legs, according to a fundraiser set up to support his family.
Price has photographed everything from presidential campaigns to the Iraq War to the Super Bowl, with his work appearing in publications like the Washington Post and Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Recently, Price has been working on a project about the history of Black cowboys iin America, in an attempt to tell their story and preserve their legacy.
The fundraiser will help with medical bills, rehabilitation costs, physical and occupational therapy, adaptive equipment and accessibility modifications and ongoing living expenses through recovery.
As of Monday, Nov. 10, more than $20,000 has been raised.
