Krispy Kreme will return to Minnesota this week after a 17-year hiatus and the grand opening fanfare is expected to draw big crowds to the north metro.
The iconic chain will begin serving glazed doughnuts at 8 a.m. Wednesday at it's new location in Fridley at 5696 University Avenue Northeast.
Ahead of the opening, the City of Fridley is preparing to keep the roads safe during the influx of visitors.
The city said no road closures related to the opening are planned, but police will be out directing traffic to help minimize congestion.
"To keep traffic moving safely, police will direct vehicles to enter the business area from 57th Avenue near Caribou Coffee, rather than the first entrance near University Avenue," the city shared. "Once inside the business area, you'll be guided by traffi
