PHOENIX — Arizona Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva is heading to the U.S. Capitol on Monday, following reports that she will finally be sworn into office after a record-breaking delay.
“I am planning to travel to Washington, D.C. after hearing through Leader (Hakeem) Jeffries and media reports that Speaker (Mike) Johnson finally intends to swear me in,” Grijalva said in an announcement.
Her announcement came after Jake Sherman of Punchbowl News, a subscription-based political outlet, reported that Johnson plans to seat her ahead of a House vote on federal government funding on Monday night.
Monday marks 48 days since Grijalva won Arizona’s 7th Congressional District in a landslide Sept. 23 special election.
