BAY VILLAGE, Ohio – Mayor Paul Koomar will begin a new four-year term in office in January after winning re-election on Nov. 4 over challenger Kathryn Kerber.

Unofficial results indicate Koomar garnered 51.9 percent of the vote.

Koomar, who had been City Council president, became mayor in January 2017 after Mayor Deborah Sutherland retired mid-term.

“It’s always a hard-fought election, and I’m happy to see the results with a win, and I’m ready to move forward,” Koomar said. “We’ve done a lot of great things implementing our master plan , and we want to continue that in 2026 and beyond.”

One of the biggest projects his administration and City Council are currently tackling is the major renovation and expansion of the 1972 Bay Village fire station “to bring it into 2025.”
