The car explosion outside Delhi’s Red Fort is now being investigated as a suspected terror attack, after investigators confirmed that a Hyundai i20 car was packed with explosives and deliberately detonated near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, killing at least eight people and injuring several others, according to intelligence sources.

Top officials said the attack bears the signature of a fidayeen-style operation. According to sources, the car was allegedly purchased by Tariq, a resident of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, who has been taken into custody for questioning. Investigators are probing his links to a Faridabad-based terror module believed to have orchestrated the bombing.

This is a developing story. It will be updated. - Ends
