Poquoson High had a great day at the Class 2 state cross country meet at Green Hill Park in Salem on Saturday.
Poquoson senior Elizabeth Trant ran a 5-kilometer time of 18 minutes, 40.10 seconds to win the individual title by nearly a minute. She helped the Islanders finish fifth overall, then rode to the Charlottesville area to contribute a goal and an assist as Poquoson win a field hockey semifinal 3-0 at Western Albemarle.
Appomattox County’s Elly Nash was second in Class 2 at 19:33.1.
Poquoson had 128 points, and 11th-place Bruton had 295. Floyd County (60) and Clarke County (67) were the top two.
In the boys race, Poquoson’s Jacob Wines ran 16:25.90 to finish fourth.
Poquoson (205) and Bruton (260) placed 10th and 12th, respectively. Glenvar (80) was first and Clarke County (91)
