NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The North Charleston Police Department has released a statement after one of the agency's officers drew his weapon on a Fort Dorchester High School student the morning of Thursday, Nov. 6, following reports that the teen had a gun on campus.
Students reported allegedly hearing a student say he was going to shoot up the school while gesturing like he was holding up a firearm and referencing a "switch."
The school resource officer spoke with the student, who allegedly stated he had a gun and referenced a "switch," the department stated in a Monday afternoon release.
A switch is a device that converts a firearm from semi-automatic to fully automatic.
