CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Multiple coroners from around the state of Alabama and other law enforcement investigators gathered in Cherokee County Thursday, Nov. 6, to participate in a training course on Sudden Unexplained Infant Death Investigations (SUIDI).

Investigators from the Cleburne County, Covington County, Limestone County, Talladega County, and Marshall County Sheriff’s offices, plus representatives from the Leesburg Police Department, Cherokee County, the Shelby County Coroner’s Offices and the Jacksonville State University’s Center for Applied Forensics attended the training sessions.

District Attorney Summer Summerford spoke with participants about the legal considerations in infant death cases.
