CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG) - There’s no more interim tag for Alex Place Thomas.

Director of Athletics Megan Franklin named Place Thomas the new head women’s soccer coach at UNI. She’s the seventh head coach in the program’s history.

Place Thomas became the interim head coach after previous head coach Bruce Erickson left for a job at Iowa Western.

Place Thomas was previously the head coach at Cedar Falls High School, and she currently coaches several players from her old high school ranks .

“I’m incredibly honored and energized to officially lead this program and this remarkable group of student-athletes,” Place Thomas said in a university release. “My passion lies in the process — the daily commitment, the belief and the pursuit of excellence that it takes to achieve something great.
