BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana Department of Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple announced the next 1,000 grants for fortified roofs in the state will open Wednesday during a press conference.

The decision follows the milestone of 10,000 homes being fitted with fortified roofs in Louisiana. Once installed, the roofs provide residents with increased water and wind resistance as well as better structural integrity.
