The City of New Haven celebrated the groundbreaking of a new affordable housing complex in The Hill neighborhood.

The new affordable housing complex is located at 10 Liberty St. and will bring 149 new affordable units to the area.

"This is a big deal for the city, you think about almost 150 units and all of them will be affordable, and some of them deeply affordable which is really important to our city,” Mayor Justin Elicker said.

Mayor Elicker added this latest development is part of the city’s effort to bring 10,000 new units within 10 years, with a percentage of them being affordable.

The new development will provide below-market rate rentals for households earning between 30% to 80% of the area median income.
