A Connecticut teenager is accused of crashing into an elderly driver after speeding past a police officer at more than 120 miles per hour, nearly double the speed limit, authorities said.

Elliot Galovich, 18, of East Hampton, was arrested and charged with several offenses after the Nov. 20 crash along Route 6 and after giving officers two fake IDs to hide his real identity, Connecticut State Police said.

The teenager blew past a state trooper going 127 mph in the 65-mph zone around 10:30 p.m. The officer turned on their emergency lights and began pursuing the speeder, but soon after, the trooper noticed a cloud of dust and traffic cones scattered across the ground, authorities said.

The speeding Galovich had crashed into an elderly woman, and his car was now parked on the side of the highway, troopers said.

Authorities did not give any information on whether the woman was hurt in the crash.

Galovich was charged with reckless driving, forgery, reckless endangerment, possession of alcohol by a minor on a public street, and possession of cannabis — more than five ounces but less than 18 ounces, State Police said.

He was released on a $10,000 bond, authorities said.
