GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) — A new 10-story landmark is opening this week at Unity Park in Greenville.

The Honor Tower stands 125 feet tall on the same land that once divided Black and white communities.

Designer Paul Endres said the tower marks the point between two parks that were originally segregated.

“We saw this as a place that would embrace everyone in the community and heal the wounds of the past so the tower itself is at the marking point between the two parks that originally was segregated and forms a union between those,” Endres said.

The tower’s copper exterior reflects hope and shines a light on sacrifice and service, according to Endres.
