New Jersey residents can expect freezing temperatures and bitter wind chills tonight followed by a windy Tuesday with gusts up to 40 mph for much of the state.

Temperatures will continue falling through Monday evening, with the coldest weather of the season expected Tuesday morning.

Interior portions of New Jersey will see lows in the mid to upper 20s, while Jersey Shore areas will drop to near freezing.

Combined with sustained winds of 10 to 15 mph and gusts up to 25 to 30 mph overnight, wind chill values will make it feel like the upper teens inland and low 20s along the coast by dawn.

Tuesday will bring dangerously gusty conditions with sustained speeds of 20 to 30 mph gusting to near 40 mph throughout much of the day. Up to 45 mph gusts are possible along the Jersey Shore.
