WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A fast-growing community campaign to support Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools has now raised $5.8 million from 330 donors, a major jump from the $1.48 million reported just a few weeks ago.
The updated totals were announced Monday night by Winston-Salem Foundation president LaTida Smith and Education Foundation executive director Marni Eisner during the WS/FCS Board of Education meeting. The two organizations are leading the All In For Our Schools campaign, a coordinated push to reduce the district’s debt and meet immediate needs across classrooms.
The district estimates its negative fund balance currently sits at $13.4 million.
According to the presentation, the campaign’s fundraising is split into two major areas:
