Gov. Phil Murphy on Monday announced a fourth round of clemency, granting 19 commutations and 29 pardons, bringing his total to 200 — the most by any governor in New Jersey history.

Among those pardoned was Brenda Thompson, who was convicted of drug and minor property crimes in 2000. Thompson later became a peer recovery specialist, using her lived experience to help others overcome substance addiction.

“This clemency represents more than a pardon — it represents restoration, redemption and renewed purpose,” Thompson said.

Murphy described the clemency actions as acts of grace from the state.
