Liberal National Party MP Phillip Thompson has urged his colleagues to “get on with it” and stop the internal squabbling over the party’s net zero stance.
Mr Thompson, an army veteran, told Sky News it was a “big kick in the guts” to be forced to return to Canberra on Remembrance Day for a meeting on net zero.
The Liberal Party has scheduled to meet on Wednesday to resolve its net zero policy, amid internal squabbles between moderates and conservatives.
Mr Thompson said he was frustrated that the Liberal Party continued to be consumed by division rather than focusing on voters.
“It saddens me that on such an important day, that I now can’t spend it with loved ones, my friends whose families of my mates have been killed in action,” Mr Thompson said.
