It used to be whenever Metro-North Railroad rebranded one of its locomotives with a fresh design, rail fans would sneak out to the tracks and take pictures they’d publish online before the big reveal.

This time around, Jeovany Rivera outsmarted the shutterbugs.

Rivera kept Locomotive 216 hidden away at a White Plains railyard until Monday, Nov. 10, when the railroad pulled back the curtain and revealed its latest locomotive makeover in time for Veterans Day.

“I showed them this time,” joked Rivera, who oversaw the design as the railroad's Wreckmaster of freight and recovery services.
