CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A Cleveland man died early Tuesday morning rushing back into a burning home to try and save his dogs.
Flames broke out inside a house in the area of W. 59th Street and Denison Avenue around midnight.
This is in the city’s Stockyards neighborhood.
The victim’s mother managed to escape and called 911. When firefighters arrived, the mom told them her son was still inside.
Firefighters pulled him out, but he died from his injuries at the hospital. His name has not been released.
The mom was also transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Cleveland Fire Lt. Mike Norman said this was a challenging fire to fight due to the high winds.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
Lt. Norman added there were no working smoke detectors inside the home.
