HURON COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Huron County Sheriff deputies are reminding people to ignore texts from the BMV and the Ohio Turnpike about collecting unpaid tolls.
Deputies posted the alert on Facebook after a Huron County resident came to the office to report the scam after receiving one of the bogus text messages.
If you do have unpaid tolls, a letter will be sent in the mail.
Deputies also said not to call the number on the text or reply to it.
And, never give personal information, money, gift cards, or pay by bit coin to anyone that calls, texts, emails, or locks down your computer.
