At a time when the main opposition CPI (M) is showing clear signs of an upswing in political and organizational fortune, the veteran Congress leader and sitting MLA Sudip Roybarman has lambasted the party, asserting that voting for CPI (M) means indirectly supporting the BJP. He was speaking in the Churaibari community hall under Dharma Nagar subdivision with the PCC president Asish Kumar Saha on the dais.

Both Asish and Sudip had gone to churaibari to preside over a joining programme which was held in the community hall around 2-00 PM and , according to claims made by the Congress party, altogether 458 voters-mostly minority voters- belonging to 137 families till now aligned with CPI (M) or BJP joined Congress by accepting the party flags from the two leaders.
